back in black

i’m currently excited by maison martin margiela’s reinterpretation of the famous knit jumpsuit designed for bowie in 1973 by kansai yamamoto.  the bowie influence is evident in a lot of the fall collection, although the rest of the pieces mostly miss the mark for me.  i think referencing the form of the original, but sticking to all black makes this look surprisingly modern.  some of the other pieces from the fall line are a bit ziggy stardust visits the macrame planet.  think one legged jumpsuits overlayed with extra large fishnet pieces, and odd pattern mixing.  check it out for yourself here.  and while you’re there, the spring line is definitely not one to miss.  three headed models, models heads obscured entirely by wolf man and afro hair or pantyhose.  judge this one for yourself…
