i picked up the final issue of domino last week.  i can’t say that what they’ve done has consistently been my style, but i do like the magazine, and will be sad to see it go.  oddly enough, this issue contains probably my favorite spread that i’ve seen of theirs.  michael bargo is a designer who was an assistant to thomas o’brien.  his apartment is an interesting mix of high end statement pieces and ikea place holders.  it’s kind of hard to see in the scan, but in the top picture he has a chanel basketball randomly stashed in the bookshelf.  like, wow.  i also love the huge pile of books and magazines two deep stacked against the living room wall.  i used to have something similar to that, but somehow it didn’t look quite as fabulous in the hovel i was living in.  sadly, his site just goes to a login screen right now.  hopefully will be public at some point.  but you can check out shopping with michael bargo, which is a cool feature on him in the new york times home and garden section.
